Using Data to Better Understand the Medicaid Population with Serious Mental Illness Technical Resource Question and Answer Session

The Medicaid Innovation Accelerator Program (IAP) is hosting a Question and Answer Session about a new technical resource, Using Data to Better Understand the Medicaid Population with Serious Mental Illness. This resource was designed to help state Medicaid agencies with using Medicaid claims and encounters data to gather specific insights about adult Medicaid beneficiaries who have a serious mental illness in their state.

This session will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm ET and provides a forum for state Medicaid agency staff to ask questions about the components of the resource and the related analyses described therein.

The target audience for this session are Medicaid agency staff who have reviewed the resource ahead of time and/or are interested in better understanding it. The resource and the September 6th introductory webinar materials can found here: https://www.medicaid.gov/state-resource-center/innovation-accelerator-program/program-areas/beneficiaries-with-complex-needs/index.html. You are encouraged to review the materials before the session.

State Medicaid agency staff interested in participating in this session, should send an email to cms.iap.smi@healthmanagement.com using the subject "SMI Q & A".  Please provide your name, email address, and the name of the state Medicaid agency for which you're employed. If you have any specific questions you would like addressed, also include them in your email.

State Medicaid-Housing Agency Partnerships New Technical Support Opportunity

The CMS Medicaid Innovation Accelerator Program (IAP)'s Community-Integration through Long-Term Service and Supports (CI-LTSS) Program Area is launching a nine-month technical support opportunity for up to eight states seeking to implement housing and service changes that will increase community integration options for Medicaid beneficiaries requiring long-term services and supports. Selected states will have the opportunity to work with industry experts through their individualized technical support and state-to-state learning activities. Consistent with statute, CMS does not provide Federal Financial Participation for room and board in home and community-based services.

This technical support opportunity is open to all states, including those that: have previously participated in the Medicaid IAP State Medicaid-Housing Agency Partnerships Track; are ready to implement Medicaid and housing changes; and have a plan in place that includes identified goals, strategies, partners/resources, and timeline to guide their work. The Expression of Interest form is posted on the CMS Medicaid IAP website with the Program Overview and slides from the informational webinar. The deadline for receipt of Expression of Interest forms is midnight (ET) on Thursday, November 15, 2018.
