| Through special observances, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Office of Minority Health joins partners nationwide to heighten public awareness and education, as a critical factor in eliminating health disparities and advancing health equity. National Minority Health Month is observed every year in April to highlight the health disparities that persist among racial and ethnic minority populations and the ways in which legislation, policies and programs can help advance health equity. Partnering for Health Equity was the theme of National Minority Health Month for 2018, which highlighted partnerships at the federal, state, local, tribal and territorial levels that help reduce disparities in health and human care. This year, the Office of Minority Health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will continue to celebrate impactful public and private sector collaborations that advance health equity and help improve the health of the nation.
