NIAID Now: Take a Tour of the Special Clinical Studies Unit (Video)

Inside the SCSU

Earlier this month, the NIH's social media team led a livestreamed "virtual tour" of the Special Clinical Studies Unit (SCSU) in the NIH Clinical Center. This special unit, where Ebola patients were treated and where challenge trials often take place, is designed to take care of patients and volunteers who might be shedding dangerous viruses. On the livestream, which is now preserved in a new post on the NIAID Now blog, Dr. Matthew Memoli, director of the Clinical Studies Unit of NIAID's Laboratory of Infectious Diseases, showed viewers around the unit, and answered questions about how clinical trials are conducted there.
