  • HHS/Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA): Training. National Network to Eliminate Disparities in Behavioral Health (NNED) Learn 2019. The goal of NNEDLearn is to develop NNED members' skills in evidence-supported and culturally appropriate mental illness and substance use prevention and treatment practices and to support practice implementation.
    March 31-April 3, 2019 in Santa Ana Pueblo, NM.

Federal Grants

  • HHS/NIH: Grant. Leveraging Health Information Technology (IT) to Address Minority Health and Health Disparities (R01 Clinical Trial Optional). Supports research that examines how health IT adoption impacts minority health and health disparity populations in access to care, quality of care, patient engagement, and health outcomes.
    Deadline for Letter of Intent (LOI) is February 4, 2019. Learn more.

  • US Department of Justice (DOJ)/Office on Violence Against Women (OVW): Grant. FY 2019 Grants to Enhance Culturally Specific Services for Victims of Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence and Stalking Program. Eligibility is limited to American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) tribal organizations and nonprofits other than institutions of higher education.

  • HHS/Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA): Grant. Rural Veterans Health Access Program. Provides funding to states to work with providers and other partners to improve access to health care services and the coordination of care for veterans living in rural areas.

  • HHS/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): Grant. Research Grants for Preventing Violence and Violence Related Injury (R01). Funds research in Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), including child abuse and neglect, teen dating violence, sexual violence, youth violence, youth/parent suicidal behavior, and exposure to adult intimate partner violence.

Non-Federal Grants

  • William T. Grant Foundation: Research Grants on Reducing Inequality. Supports research studies on programs, policies, and practices to reduce inequality in academic, social, behavioral, and economic outcomes for young people ages 5-25.

  • Tufts Health Plan FoundationSystems and Best Practices Grants. Supports the work of nonprofit organizations to influence, create, and improve healthy communities for older adults.

  • National Indian Health BoardCommunity Changemaker Grants. Provides small amounts of money that can help supercharge a youth-led health event. Eligibility is limited to AI/AN youth age 14-24 years old.

Scholarships / Fellowships

  • The Stanford Center on Poverty and Inequality, Princeton University's Center for Research on Child Wellbeing, and the American Institutes for Research: Fellowship. The American Voices Project. This paid fellowship will provide training in public policy, qualitative interviewing, and ethnographic/survey methods. Fellows will spend a year conducting in-person interviews with families across America to learn about their lives, relationships, jobs, health, and well-being.

  • Native American Research and Training Center: Call for abstracts for the Convergence and Divergence in Native Health Research: The Confluence of Traditional and Contemporary Medicine conference. This is a three day conference for students, researchers, healthcare providers and others working in AI/AN health.

  • Sickle Cell Disease Association of America (SCDAA), in partnership with George Washington University and the NIH National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI): Lecture. This new factsheet, available in English and Spanish, provides information on the different types of pain medicines, how they affect women, and steps all women can take to protect themselves and their loved ones. Clinical Trials

  • The University of North Carolina (UNC), Chapel Hill, in collaboration with the HHS Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ): Behavioral study. Improving African American Glaucoma Patient Involvement in Visits and Outcomes. Researchers seek African American volunteers, age 18 or older, who have at least 20/400 vision in their better seeing eye and report being less than 80% adherent to their glaucoma medication. Study to be conducted at UNC in Chapel Hill, NC. Learn more.

  • HHS/NIH, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID): Treatment (Clinical Trial) study. Safety and Immunogenicity Study of an Influenza Vaccination Strategy Including an H3N2 M2SR Prime Followed by a Seasonal Quadrivalent Inactivated Vaccine Boost in a Pediatric Population 9-17 Years Old. NIH researchers seek healthy volunteers age 9-17 years old. Parent(s)/legal guardian(s) must provide written informed consent prior to initiation of any study procedures, and subject must provide assent. Study to be conducted at the St. Louis University's Center for Vaccine Development in St. Louis, MO. Learn more.
