March 10 is National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NWGHAAD). Whether you are HIV-negative or living with HIV, join us in saying "HIV Prevention Starts with Me." Here's what you can do to prevent HIV:

  1. Get a free HIV test. To find a location, visit gettested.cdc.gov.
  2. Learn about pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). Talk to your doctor about your options.
  3. Talk to your doctor about ways to stay healthy if you are living with HIV. This includes taking your medication as prescribed.
  4. Spread the word about NWGHAAD with these ideas.

Join the conversation on social media using #NWGHAAD, and visit womenshealth.gov for more information on how you can prevent HIV.
