NIAID Recognizes World Malaria Day

Today, NIAID Director Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Lee Hall, chief of the Parasitology and International Programs Branch in the NIAID Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, detail recent malaria research accomplishments in a statement recognizing World Malaria Day 2019. They note that NIAID is coordinating global research projects to better understand the disease, improve diagnostics, treatments, and mosquito control interventions, and develop safe and effective vaccines. They explain that even after significant setbacks, malaria elimination can be achieved.
