MN Governor Signs Bill Establishing Protections for Seniors and Vulnerable Adults

On May 22, Minnesota Governor Walz signed H.F. 90, a package of reforms aimed at providing greater protection for older and vulnerable adults residing in assisted living facilities. Among other provisions, the Bill includes funding to support additional staff for the Office of Ombudsman for Long-Term Care.

A collection of organizations and state agencies were instrumental in achieving agreement on the language passed. They include the MN Ombudsman for Long-Term Care Office, Elder Voices (family advocacy group), the MN Elder Justice Center, AARP, the Alzheimer's Association, Legal Aid, the MN Department of Health, the MN Department of Human Services, and provider organizations.

Congratulations to the MN LTCO and all the other organizations that worked together to make this happen.
