Wednesday, May 22, 2019 NIAID has granted two awards to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center to study immunologic imprinting of influenza—the first encounter that a child's immune system has with the influenza virus, or a vaccine. This research addresses an important knowledge gap outlined in NIAID's strategic plan to develop a universal flu vaccine, and may yield important insight into how vaccines could provide broader, more durable protection. |
