The results are in, Hcis!

banner

Hcis,

When we asked supporters like you to take our community survey in May, we never expected to get the overwhelming response that we did. Thousands of you -- individuals on the spectrum, caretakers, siblings, and parents -- provided invaluable input that will help us serve our community more effectively.

Thank you, team! Your responses will allow us to understand the unique problems facing our community, gaps in services, and how to better communicate with you.

We've spent the last few weeks combing through the responses and thought it'd be great to be transparent about what you told us. Here are some topline findings:

  • Your responses make it clear that our community is as diverse as the broader society in which we all live. We're parents, children, school teachers, lawyers, professors, retail workers, and doctors. We live in places both large and small, from New York City to Sun Valley, Idaho.
  • When asked what we could be doing more of, 56 percent of you chose information and resources, and 43 percent of you wanted a greater focus on employment programs.
  • When asked what was most important to you, 42 percent of you said that understanding government programs and benefits -- and finding support networks for adults with autism -- were paramount.
  • Among those interested in getting involved at the local level, a quarter of you were interested in long term services and support.

We're fighting for a world where individuals and families living with autism are able to maximize their quality of life -- which is why your voice is so important to our work. So thank you again, Hcis! We appreciate your feedback and take your input very seriously.
