Everyday Advocacy

The Congressional August recess doesn't mean advocacy stops. The Autism Society and our affiliates advocate every single day. Last week, 495 people wrote a letter to their Representatives through our Action Center, urging the reauthorization of the Autism CARES Act. Make your voice heard during August Recess.

  • Howard County Autism Society wants families to know that while navigating the special education process can be overwhelming, their experienced staff and parent members are there to help. For more than a dozen years, they have offered a host of services to the local community through its Family Advocacy and Parent Education Program. Learn more here.
  • The Autism Society of Northern Virginia attended our Day on the Hill with self-advocates, parents, teachers & professionals to educate delegates on employment, education, services, healthcare, & longterm support. Through their efforts, Delegate Jennifer Wexton co-sponsored the Autism CARES Act! Learn more about their work here.

  • In 2018, our network hosted 114 IEP workshops for local families and individuals.
