August 23, 2019 SUPPORTING PEER-BASED RECOVERY SERVICES WEBINAR In the final report of the President's Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis, the Commission recommended the expansion of substance use treatment availability particularly in rural areas and other areas with limited services. To help achieve this end, the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) with assistance from partner Federal agencies, organized a webinar on August 29, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. ET. The information presented will include both rural and urban perspective, as well as international perspectives. Certified peer recovery specialists are people with lived experience of a substance use disorder who have made a successful transition to recovery and now desire to help others make a similar journey in finding recovery. The webinar is designed for professionals within the addiction industry including health services personnel, educators and counselors, concerned stakeholders and individuals seeking opportunities to become a certified peer recovery specialist.
