Love Your Heart Twitter Chat

The HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) will co-host a Twitter chat in partnership with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and The Heart Truth to observe Black History Month and American Heart Month. The chat will focus on how to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle in order to overcome cardiovascular health disparities in the African American community.

This HHS Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) cooperative agreement supports programs that focus on influenza vaccination in high risk adults or on racial and ethnic disparities in all adult vaccinations.

These grants, offered by the Rita and Alex Hillman Foundation, support nursing-driven models of care that improve the health and health care of vulnerable populations, including racial and ethnic minorities, LGBTQ people, the homeless and rural populations.

This report, published by the CDC National Center for Health Statistics, describes trends in opioid prescribing at the time of discharge from the emergency department among adults. The data covers the period of 2006–2007 through 2016–2017 and provides information on patient and hospital characteristics and the type of opioids prescribed.

Poison Help 1-800-222-1222

This hotline provides 24/7 telephone guidance for poison emergencies, free of charge, by Certified Specialists in Poison Information, with back-up by board-certified physician toxicologists. The National Capital Poison Center has also developed an online app and website, webPOISONCONTROL, that allows users to receive free, confidential and accurate advice about potential poisonings.
