Dear Hcis,
This has certainly been an unusual April! We have been very busy providing critical information to all affected by autism during National Autism Awareness Month (NAAM).
Here are some highlights of how we responded:
-
14,000 people visited our National Autism Awareness Month website.
-
We proudly launched our #CelebrateDifferences video exploring just how little everyday people know about autism.
-
Over 5,000 individuals accessed our NAAM resources to share infographics, statistics, and show the Autism Society's impact to their communities.
-
Nearly 15,000 individuals joined #CelebrateDifferences on Instagram.
-
Our network's wider NAAM campaigns pivoted from hundreds of in-person programs to successful digital conferences and events designed to spread awareness, promote acceptance and ignite change. Some of these events included the Autism Society Inland Empire's Virtual Hero Walk; the Autism Society of Central Virginia's Financial Giving Program; and the collaborative effort between Autism Society of Greater Wisconsin and Autism Society of Minnesota to launch a Digital Conference Stronger Together as well as many other vital programs and services provided by our 77 affiliates across the nation.
-
150,000+ people accessed our COVID-19 Toolkit, our Facebook Live Coronavirus Information Series, our partnership with myHana, or called our National Helpline (1-800-3 Autism).
-
Make Waves Foundation generously donated more than 50,000 masks for our affiliates to distribute to groups home.
These are impressive numbers demonstrating some of the tremendous value the Autism Society offers to those in need.
The work of the Autism Society of America will continue after April has passed and once we overcome the pandemic because we are essential to improving the quality of life for all affected by autism across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan.
We remain committed to our mission and will continue our efforts to provide education, advocacy, information & referral services, supports, and to build a more inclusive community.
Please donate to support our mission today.
Today, and always, we are here for you.
