Almost 30k People Choose To #CelebrateDifferences

In less than thirty days, we've seen almost 30,000 people interact with our #CelebrateDifferences campaign for National Autism Awareness Month. With just a few days left, we encourage you to take the pledge to #CelebrateDifferences and help us reach our $150k fundraising goal. 

How to Get Involved

  • Spread the word by sharing resources with family, friends, co-workers, and social media channels.
  • Host a Facebook Fundraiser, and tap into your network to spread awareness, promote acceptance, and help us ignite change.
  • Donate anything you are able to; whether it's $5 or $500, any amount helps us better support the autism community.

COVID-19 Relief Efforts Continue

The Autism Society is working tirelessly to better support our community during the Coronavirus pandemic; access our resources below, and tune in to content in the week ahead to find the help you need. 

  • 53,000 masks are being delivered this week distribute to Direct Support Professionals (DSP) in high-risk areas, by Autism Society affiliates.
  • We have a jam packed week for our Facebook Live: Coronavirus Information Series:
    • 4/28 @ 3pm EST: "Public Policy Update" featuring Kim Musheno, VP of Public Policy at Autism Society of America.
    • En EspaƱol: 4/29 @ 3pm EST: "Intentando regular durante tiempos anormales" con Marlene Sotelo, Chief Operating Officer a Els for Autism, y Dr. Elisa Cruz-Torres, Profesora a Florida Atlantic University.
    • 4/30 @ 3pm EST: "4 A's of Autism During Covid-19"  featuring Stephen Shore, Self-Advocate & Professor at Adelphi University.
  • 62,000 people have accessed the COVID-19 toolkit webpages. Search by topic for resources relevant to the added challenges the autism community faces during this crisis.

Affiliates Provide Virtual Supports

Over 350 Autism Society events, programs and services were cancelled nationwide due to the Coronavirus. Our affiliate network quickly pivoted to provide virtual events and online supports during this time. Some affiliate highlights include:

  •  LAST CHANCE! Today is the last day to register for "Stronger Together in 2020," a virtual autism conference provided by the Autism Society of Minnesota & the Autism Society of Greater Wisconsin on April 30-May 2. 
  • Autism Society of Boulder County started their very own online Game Night every Monday for people to sign on, decompress and have some fun.
  • Baltimore Autism Society is hosting "Together Apart", an online support and discussion group for different ages, including teens, adults, parents and more.
