Dear Hcis,
The COVID-19 crisis continues to affect millions of individuals with autism. Quarantine and social distancing measures prevent the autism community from getting the services they need, and families face extraordinary pressures with these added challenges.
While National Autism Awareness Month (NAAM) is operating differently this year, we are providing relevant, timely, and helpful information for individuals and their families. In the last month, approximately 100,000 people have been assisted through the COVID-19 toolkit, our Coronavirus Information Series, and through our National Helpline. Please make a special gift to the Autism Society of America so we can continue this essential work.
A mother recently called our National Helpline asking how her son can get proper care and treatment while he is in a group home - an issue which has many of our families concerned. We are advocating for him and the millions like him, at the federal, state and local level to get direct support professionals the proper protective equipment, and more funding in the Coronavirus stimulus packages.
Your support is needed for us to serve all individuals with autism; whether they live in group homes, with their families or independently. Through NAAM we are doing more than asking for financial support - we are helping individuals and their families survive, and find hope, through COVID-19.
The Autism Society of America was the first national autism organization to provide an immediate response to the COVID-19 crisis with a comprehensive toolkit and ongoing support. With your gift today, we will be able to continue advocating for more assistance, develop more tools, offer more information and provide more referrals to services.
My Best,

Christopher Banks
