COVID-19 presents new and unique challenges for individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia (ADRD) as well as family and friends providing care. Nineteen percent of all dually eligible beneficiaries have ADRD. Older adults are more vulnerable to COVID-19 and are more likely to have severe outcomes. Dementia-related cognitive impairment may also increase risk for infection. Social isolation and changes in routine may lead to confusion, irritability and agitation, and sleep difficulty.

Providers and health plans can play a key role in supporting individuals with ADRD and their caregivers. This webinar will provide strategies for supporting individuals with ADRD living at home during COVID-19. It will also address opportunities for health care systems to prepare to meet the needs of people with ADRD diagnosed with COVID-19.
