| July 29, 2020 | View as a webpage |  |        | Save the Date: Advancing the Response to COVID-19  The HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) will host a virtual symposium on September 17, 2020 to highlight state, Tribal, territorial and community-based efforts to address COVID-19 among racial and ethnic minority populations. The Advancing the Response to COVID-19: Sharing Promising Programs and Practices for Racial and Ethnic Minority Communities virtual symposium aims to support and disseminate promising practices, programs and strategies for combating COVID-19, especially in communities of color.
Stay up to date on the virtual symposium by signing up for OMH email updates and by visiting our webpage. | OMH FY2020 Funding Opportunity Announcements  OMH has released five new funding opportunity announcements (FOAs) for which applications are now being accepted. These FOAs will support projects on reducing cardiac arrest disparities, sickle cell disease (SCD) data collection, hydroxyurea prescribing for SCD, adverse childhood experiences and disparity-reducing interventions via state, Tribal and territorial partnerships.

Sickle Cell Disease Clinical Data Collection Platform OMH will support a demonstration project to determine whether a standardized clinical data collection platform can serve as a central repository for analyzing sickle cell disease data for clinical care teams and patient/family members.

State/Tribal/Territorial Partnership Initiative to Document and Sustain Disparity-Reducing Interventions OMH will support projects to demonstrate if modifications to existing interventions will improve health outcomes for racial and ethnic minority and disadvantaged populations.

Centers of Excellence for Behavioral Health Disparities The HHS Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) will establish Centers of Excellence to offer training and technical assistance for healthcare practitioners on issues related to addressing behavioral health disparities.
Deadline is August 19.
Demonstration to Increase Hydroxyurea Prescribing for Children with Sickle Cell Disease Through Provider Incentives OMH will support projects to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of providing financial incentives to providers to improve the quality of life of children with sickle cell disease through increased prescription rates of hydroxyurea.

Volunteers must join a Volunteer Screening Registry. Study to be conducted at clinical research sites distributed throughout the United States.
Project CARE: An Integrated Treatment Adherence Program for Bipolar Disorder at the Time of Prison Release This pilot study, sponsored by Brown University and the NIH National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), seeks volunteers age 18 years or older with a DSM-5 diagnosis of bipolar I, bipolar II, or bipolar disorder not elsewhere classified. Subjects must have an anticipated prison release within 4-10 weeks to locations anywhere in RI or to locations in other states within a 30 mile radius of Providence. Study to be conducted at the Rhode Island Department of Corrections and Brown University in Providence, RI. |  | | Workforce Development | Telemedicine Hack: A 10-week Learning Community to Accelerate Telemedicine Implementation for Ambulatory Providers To support wide adoption of telemedicine during the COVID-19 pandemic, the HHS Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response is partnering with the ECHO Institute at the University of New Mexico and the Public Health Foundation's TRAIN Learning Network to deliver Telemedicine Hack, a free, virtual peer-to-peer learning community.
