ACL's COVID-19 Resources: What's New

Here's what's new on our COVID-19 resource page

Preparing for emergencies: The recent landfall of Hurricane Isaias was the latest reminder of the importance of preparing for potential emergencies and natural disasters during the coronavirus pandemic. We've continued to update the "disaster preparedness" section of our page with new resources including a Preparing for Disaster During COVID-19 website from the American Red Cross and an interim FEMA policy on Emergency Non-Congregate Sheltering during the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency 

Navigating volunteer shortages: Volunteers play a critical role in supporting many community-based organizations. ACL has developed a guide compiling examples of creative strategies that various organizations have deployed to address volunteer shortages, journal articles on volunteering during times of crises, and other resources.

Speaking of volunteers, here are some ways you can give back:

Supporting our communities: We know that many older adults and people with disabilities face an increased risk of serious illness as a result of COVID-19. The White House and HHS have developed new fact sheets highlighting ongoing efforts to support Americans with disabilities and older Americans living in nursing homes during the pandemic.
