For the past few months, our melatonin page has been one of the most frequently viewed pages on our website. You may have noticed recent news articles on preliminary research on melatonin and COVID-19.

Current research looking at the effects of melatonin on COVID-19 is only in its early stages. There are a few randomized controlled trials (studies in people) in progress, but at this point, it is too soon to reach conclusions.

We'll continue to follow the research on this important topic, and when the results of current studies become available, we will be sure to post information on our website and through our various channels.

While we understand that these news articles provide hope to many, we encourage you to always discuss health concerns with your health care provider. Information about current COVID-19 treatment options is available from the Department of Health and Human Services Combat COVID website. If you are interested in melatonin for sleep problems, please visit our Sleep Disorders page.
