A century of insulin.

Many lifetimes can be credited to insulin, the life-saving medicine used by so many with diabetes.

Drive Discovery

100 Years of Insulin

Celebrate 100 years of life-saving medicine with us—there’s a lot to be grateful for! Over 8 million people use insulin to survive, making it a truly integral part of daily life for people with diabetes.

Did you know that we can thank pigs for insulin? That’s right, researchers first used the insulin from a pig to treat people with diabetes. So, the next time you see a pig, give it a big, “Thank you!” for its contribution to diabetes management.

We’re celebrating 100 years this May, and we hope you’ll join us in appreciation of this life-saving medicine. Critical research made the discovery of insulin possible 100 years ago, and the contribution you make today will lead to new diabetes research findings that will improve the lives of the over 34 million Americans with diabetes.
