June 01, 2021 Rural Behavioral Health Workforce Centers - Northern Border Region Application Deadline June 28 The Health Resources and Services Administration's (HRSA) Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP) will be making approximately 4 awards of up to $375,000 per year for the Rural Behavioral Health Workforce Centers - Northern Border Region (RBHWC) program. The purpose of this program is to improve behavioral health care services in rural areas through the education and training of future and current health professionals in treatment and interventions for behavioral health disorders, including substance use disorder. The RBHWC program supports HRSA's collaboration with the Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) to provide career and workforce training activities within the four-state NBRC region, in order to assist individuals with behavioral health needs, particularly substance use disorder. To this end, the RBHWCs will utilize a multi-sectoral, collaborative approach to enhance behavioral health care delivery within eligible rural NBRC counties and census tracts by developing and implementing training and mentorship programs focused on building the skills and capacity of rural health care providers, paraprofessionals, non-clinical staff, and community members to care for individuals with behavioral health care needs. One award will be issued in each of the four states in the NBRC region-- New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine---and applicants must be located within the state for which they are applying to serve. All planned activities supported by this program must exclusively target the HRSA-designated rural counties and rural census tracts within the NBRC service area tracts (see Appendix A in the NOFO). FORHP will hold a webinar for applicants on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 10 – 11 a.m. ET. A recording will be made available for those who cannot attend. For dial-in information, view the NOFO on Grants.gov, click the Package tab, then Preview, and Download Instructions; technical assistance information is on page (ii). If you have any questions about the program, please contact Sarah O'Donnell: sodonnell@hrsa.gov or 240-485-8245. |
