Integrative health involves bringing conventional and complementary health approaches together in a coordinated way. For example, cancer treatment centers with integrative health care programs may offer services such as acupuncture and meditation to help manage symptoms and side effects for patients who are receiving conventional cancer treatment. An integrative approach also emphasizes treating the whole person rather than, for example, focusing on a single organ system. Integrative health aims for well-coordinated care among different providers and institutions.
