| COMMEMORATING WORLD PATIENT SAFETY DAY 2021 | | Credit: Emmanuel Attramah, Jhpiego | | The Importance of Safe and Respectful Care Before, During, and After Childbirth This World Patient Safety Day, USAID recognizes that more mothers, newborns, and families can reach their full potential in life if they have equitable access to safe and compassionate care. This means health care providers deliver lifesaving interventions in maternal, newborn, and child health with the same level of quality no matter who the patient is, or where they seek care. Across our programs, and in collaboration with partners, USAID supports access to high-quality, respectful health care for pregnant women before, during, and after childbirth. Learn more by reading the stories of Mary, a young Ghanian mom seeking prenatal care during the pandemic, and Djélika and her son, Boubacar, who received lifesaving commodities through improvements to Mali's health supply chain.
