Dear Hcis,
This holiday season, I am so grateful for the amazing community that makes the Autism Society stronger, better, and more impactful for all those we serve. As we look back on the year, the Autism Society has accomplished many remarkable things. Here are just a few:
- We reimagined what the Autism Society can do and be with an audacious undertaking to develop a new brand. This included over 150 individuals in the Autism community coming together through an inclusive process to support our organization to be more accessible, equitable, and better connected to those we serve.
- We supported our 73 affiliates to be more successful through a strategic conference focused on development, national programs, and advocacy.
- We expanded our community with educational events through our Facebook Live series, Self-Advocate workshop, and million+ attended livestream event with the cast of Everything’s Gonna Be Okay.
- Annually, our network fielded 52,000 calls from our helplines, pushed out over 3,500 letters to lawmakers urging them to take action on autism-related issues, and connected over 1.35 million individuals to resources and support through our website.
I love our tagline “the connection is you” because it could not be more true. Everything we did this year, and everything we’ll do in the future, is only made possible because you are the connection. You reached out to us for information. You gave your time and resources to enhance our work. You cared for one another in communities across the country. The connection is you.
Right now, you can be the connection for even more people with an end-of-year gift to the Autism Society. Your donation will ensure that more children get the early screenings and diagnoses they need to access the right supports and services. It will advance the policies we need in the federal government for equitable access to healthcare, housing, education, and jobs. Your donation will make a difference for Autistic individuals and their loved ones who are looking to build connections within the Autism community.
I am thrilled with what we can do together in the new year. Please continue to be the connection. |
