January 7, 2022 Deadline: Nominate Delegates to the Center for Indigenous Innovation and Health Equity Tribal Advisory Committee

Center for Indigenous Innovation and Health Equity Tribal Advisory Committee Delegate Nominations Open Until Jan. 7, 2022

The HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) invites nominations of qualified candidates to serve as primary and alternate delegates for the Center for Indigenous Innovation and Health Equity (The Center) Tribal Advisory Committee (TAC). The Center TAC will help ensure OMH has Tribal input that is critical for the Center's success and effectiveness. The Center TAC will have 16 delegate positions, one from each of the 12 geographic areas served by the Indian Health Service (IHS), and four national at-large member positions.Nominations deadline extended to January 7, 2022.

Assistance for Those Affected by Severe Storms, Straight-line Winds, Flooding, and Tornadoes in Kentucky

The President has declared that a major disaster exists in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and ordered Federal aid to supplement Commonwealth and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, and tornadoes that began on December 10, 2021. Residents and business owners who sustained losses in designated counties can apply for assistance by registering online at DisasterAssistance.gov. HHS Launches White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders

HHS has launched the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (WHIAANHPI) in response to the President's Executive Order 14031, Advancing Equity, Justice, and Opportunity for Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders. The Initiative is co-chaired by HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra and U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Katherine Tai, and is charged with driving an ambitious, whole-of-government agenda to advance equity, justice, and opportunity for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities in the United States.

Prevention and Early Identification for High Risk Youth in School-based Clinics

This study, sponsored by the Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), seeks Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, and Afro-Caribbean youth age 12 years or older who attend a high school with a CHA school teen health center. The study will be carried out at the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School and the CHA Health Equity Research Lab in Cambridge, Massachusetts, as well as Everett High School in Everett, Massachusetts.

Community-Based Mental Health Intervention to Address Structural Inequities and Adverse Disparate Consequences of COVID-19 Pandemic on Latino Immigrant and African Refugees

This study, sponsored by the University of New Mexico and National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), seeks Hispanic/Latino immigrants and African refugees age 18 years or older who live in New Mexico. The study will be carried out at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

2021-2022 NCUIH Project Firstline Fellowship

The National Council of Urban Indian Health (NCUIH), in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Project Firstline National Collaborative, seeks applications for the Urban Indian Organization Infection Prevention and Control Training Program on Emerging and Reemerging Infectious Diseases and COVID-19. This fellowship is intended to offer American Indian/Alaska Native students hands-on experience in building capacity and providing technical assistance in Urban Native Public Health, with an emphasis on infectious diseases.
