White House Maternal Health Call to Action Summit

Join us today as Vice President Kamala Harris hosts a Summit to mark the first-ever White House Maternal Health Day of Action! The Vice President will convene Cabinet Secretaries, Members of Congress, local elected officials, White House officials, advocates, and celebrities to discuss the maternal health crisis. To kick off the Call to Action, President Biden and Vice President Harris will announce commitments to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity, and ensure safe pregnancy and childbirth for America's mothers.

Agenda for White House Maternal Health Call to Action Summit

  • Opening Remarks: Remarks by Vice President Kamala Harris, followed by remarks by Secretary Xavier Becerra and CMS Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure (10:00 AM ET)
  • Panel I: Build Back Better by Addressing Maternal Health: Congressional leaders on maternal health will highlight the provisions in the Build Back Better Act intended to address maternal health and will encourage the need and urgency to pass the Build Back Better Agenda. (~10:20 AM ET)
  • Panel II: 1:1 Armchair Conversation with Allyson Felix: Allyson Felix, the most decorated woman in Olympic track and field history, will participate in a discussion with Vice President Kamala Harris on her childbirth experience, the challenges she faces as a working mother, and her ongoing advocacy for advancing maternal health. (~11:10 AM)
  • Panel III: Men and Maternal Health: Alexis Ohanian, Charles Johnson and Senator Cory Booker will discuss their personal experience with childbirth and the maternal health advocacy they have undertaken as a result. (~11:45 AM)
  • Panel IV: Combatting Systemic Challenges in Maternal Health: Panelists will discuss specific challenges that Black, Indigenous, Rural women and other communities face attempting to receive optimal maternal health care. (~12:20 PM ET)
