If you use complementary health approaches for your child, here are some key points to keep in mind:

  • Psychological and physical approaches—such as yoga, mindfulness, guided imagery, hypnosis, and biofeedback—may be helpful for symptoms such as anxiety and stress in children and are low risk.

  • You should take the same precautions with dietary supplements in your home that you take with medicines. Keep them out of children's sight and reach.

  • It's always a good idea to talk with your child's health care provider about any complementary approaches you're using or considering for your child.
