About one in thirteen Black babies are born with sickle cell trait. National Sickle Cell Awareness Month serves as a time to encourage people living with sickle cell disease to join research studies and clinical trials that seek to find effective treatments and a cure that will work for all patients. Initiative includes educational materials to help consumers understand the potential risks of using these products and to help identify whether the skin products they purchase contain hydroquinone or mercury. The study will be carried out at Chestnut Health Systems in Chicago, Illinois. PILOT: Peer Intervention to Link Overdose Survivors to Treatment This study, sponsored by the Medical University of South Carolina, the National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network, the Emmes Company, and NIDA, seeks volunteers ages 18 years and older who have experienced a known or suspected overdose. The study is currently accepting volunteers at Prisma Health Upstate in Greenville, South Carolina, with future study sites planned for Youngstown, Ohio and Everett, Washington. | | | Workforce Development | HRSA/SAMHSA DATA 2000 Waiver Training Payment Program for Substance Use Disorder Treatment in Rural Areas The DATA 2000 Waiver Training Payment Program, a collaboration between the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), aims to improve rural healthcare by promoting greater access to substance use disorder treatment through payments to Rural Health Clinics, including migrant health centers and health programs or facilities operated by Tribes, Tribal organizations, or Urban Indian organizations. Applications accepted on a rolling basis. Program funds are limited and will be paid on a first-come, first-served basis.
