Dear Hcis,
September is National Suicide Prevention Month, and the Autism Society of America is committed to reducing the risk of suicide within the Autism community through targeted resources, and advocating for increased supports.
Research shows that depression affects an estimated 26% of adults with Autism and that Autistic individuals are three times more likely to attempt or die by suicide than the general population. Your support is needed to expand our impact in the Autism community by providing mental health supports to those who need it most.
The Autism Society has actively advocated at the federal level in support of added funding for the 988 Lifeline, and specialized training for crisis response teams to better support the Autism community. The launch of the 988 Lifeline is only the beginning, now we must support our states to effectively implement response teams that can help the most vulnerable populations.
While the Autism Society National Helpline is not a crisis line, you can always call us for information and referrals at 1-800-3AUTISM or email, info@autism-society.org, to connect with our trained Information and Referral Specialists. We’re here to connect you with the resources you need, when you need them.
Your continued partnership is serving thousands and will create a world where everyone in the Autism community will have the resources and support needed throughout their lives.
Sincerely, |
