Virtual Workshop

Firearm Injury Prevention: State of the Science and the Potential of Nurse-Led Research

On November 9–10, 2022, NINR is hosting a workshop to explore how nurse scientists and nursing research can contribute to firearm injury prevention. The workshop will include an examination of current research in various disciplines, with the goal of developing a research trajectory that advances nursing knowledge, practice, and policy related to firearm injury prevention. The seminar will center on the intersection of rurality and other factors that impact how research is implemented with rural populations. Video Now Available: NINR Director's Lecture - Health Equity

The video recording of NINR's second Director's Lecture of 2022 is now available to view. On October 11, 2022, Dr. Chandra Ford, Professor and Founding Director of the Center for the Study of Racism, Social Justice & Health at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, and Dr. Suzanne Miyamoto, Chief Executive Officer of the American Academy of Nursing, presented research priorities and the practice and policy implications of nursing research through the health equity lens. Read More

NIH COMPASS; Health Equity

NIH Common Fund ComPASS Program Coordination Center

The NIH Common Fund has issued the funding opportunity announcement: Community Partnerships to Advance Science for Society (ComPASS): Coordination Center (U24 - Clinical Trial Optional). This funding opportunity will fund a single coordination center as an integral part of the ComPASS Program. The ComPASS Coordination Center (CCC) will provide administration, coordination, data, and research capacity-building and training support to the ComPASS consortium. A technical assistance webinar will be held on November 10, 2022, at 3pm-4pm (ET). Read More

 

NIH HEAL

HEAL Initiative: Prevention and Management of Chronic Pain in Rural Populations

NIH has published a new HEAL Initiative funding opportunity announcement encouraging UG3/UH3 phased cooperative research applications to accelerate implementation of effective non-opioid interventions for chronic pain management in rural and remote populations. Projects include pragmatic, implementation, or hybrid effectiveness-implementation trials to improve pain management and reduce the use of inappropriate opioid medications. Read More
