Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine, M.D. wrote a blog post about HHS' SOAR to Health and Wellness, a nationally recognized, accredited training program to help health care and social service providers identify, treat, and respond to patients who have experienced trafficking. The campaign encourages women to pay attention to their bodies, so they can recognize any warning signs and seek medical care. | | | | Clinical Trials | Predicting Sleep, Smoking, and Lung Health Disparities in African American Adults This study, sponsored by Temple University, in collaboration with the National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD), will seek to determine the individual, social, and environmental predictors of sleep duration, quality, latency, efficiency, timing and regularity in African American smokers. Additionally, it will quantify the future relationship between multiple metrics of sleep with tobacco use and examine the extent to which short sleep and other unhealthy sleep metrics, predicts lung function through smoking behaviors and inflammation, in African Americans at risk for advancing COPD.
