Thursday, May.11, 2023 Good News for Toddlers with Peanut Allergy A skin patch containing a very small amount of peanut protein may become a safe new way to treat peanut allergy in toddlers, NIAID's Dr. Alkis Togias writes in a New England Journal of Medicine editorial on the results of the EPITOPE trial. The study found that among 1- to 3-year-olds with peanut allergy, a patch that delivers peanut protein to the skin was more effective than a placebo patch at desensitizing the children to peanut and increasing the amount of peanut they could safely eat after a year of treatment.
