New OMH Blog for Health Equity!

Empowering the Next Generation: Public Health Youth Ambassadors Leading the Charge for Health Literacy by Rashmita Subedi

In the latest post on the OMH Blog for Health Equity, Rashmita Subedi, Public Health Analyst and Project Officer, HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH), highlights the Fairfax County Health Department's Stronger2 Public Health Youth Ambassador (PHYA) Program funded by OMH's Advancing Health Literacy to Enhance Equitable Community Responses to COVID-19 (AHL) initiative. Stronger2 is increasing health literacy among high school students by training them as community health workers.

Stronger2 Public Health Youth Ambassadors

In March, OMH organized a recognition ceremony and Health Literacy fair to acknowledge the efforts of 37 trained PHYAs who are helping bridge the gap between communities of color and health facilities by delivering primary health care to the community members and supporting the referral system.
