Lupus news: NIAID-funded researchers found a new class of compounds that reduces inflammation when tested in human and mouse cells. The compounds target a key protein called SLC15A4, which is linked to autoimmune conditions and lupus. In the new article in Nature Chemical Biology, the scientists suggest that selective blocking of SLC15A4 could lead to new treatments for autoimmune and autoinflammatory conditions, such as lupus, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and psoriasis.
