Research Is Key in the Fight to End Diabetes
"As a first timer, I've got to say that the ADA’s Scientific Sessions is impressive. I realized that THIS is the fight. THIS is where the fight will be won. Lives will be changed, and all of us will end diabetes together." -Molly Butz, the ADA’s Web Lifestyle Content Manager and living with T1 diabetes
Your donation can help advance diabetes research and care!
Friend,
We’ve officially wrapped up this year’s 84th Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association® (ADA), the world’s largest meeting on diabetes research, prevention, and care.
The 84th Scientific Sessions provided a fresh outlook on the lifesaving research that will improve the lives of millions living with diabetes—and so will your donation!
The Scientific Sessions unveiled cutting-edge research such as:
Weight-loss drug reduces kidney disease risk by 24% Findings from a new trial showed that semaglutide (a weight-loss medication) significantly reduces the risk of major kidney disease events and cardiovascular causes in people with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Breakthrough studies on AID and CGM New data revealed that technology such as automated insulin delivery (AID) systems and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) improve blood glucose (blood sugar) levels and overall diabetes management.
Innovations in medications for people with obesity
In addition to helping people with obesity reach a healthy weight, findings from these studies showed that weight-loss medications also improve blood glucose and blood pressure management and reduce cholesterol levels while preserving lean mass (which mostly includes muscle)
Weight-loss drug shown to improve sleep apnea and CVD
Findings from a study discovered that people with sleep apnea and obesity who took tirzepatide (a weight-loss medication) significantly improved their sleep apnea, lost weight, and reduced their risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD).
This premier gathering of some of the world’s brightest minds and experts on diabetes research and treatment brings groundbreaking innovations from the lab to everyday care. This critical work is pivotal in diabetes prevention and management—and so is your support!
A donation from you today may support lifesaving diabetes treatments, fuels research to reduce severe complications from diabetes, and funds critical research to find a cure.
Friend, you can support the fight to end diabetes once and for all alongside ADA researchers to make a difference in the lives of the 136 million Americans living with diabetes or prediabetes with your donation. Will you stand with us in the fight?
