Dear Hcis,
My wife Deya and I are proud parents of adult children on the Autism spectrum. Our kids have overcome incredible challenges on their paths to adulthood, but one thing remains a constant battle for them and millions of adults on the spectrum —Meaningful employment that translates into personally rewarding and fulfilling career opportunities. The Autism Society’s Employment Initiative helps individuals plan for employment, promotes a fulfillment mindset, and creates inclusive environments — providing resources for job seekers, families, and employers, and partnering with organizations to open new doors, like the global corporation, Kimberly-Clark. “When my son was diagnosed with Autism 23 years ago, I connected with the Autism Society in order to learn. I quickly became active with our local affiliate board, as I wanted to share learning and support for other families. I wanted Kimberly-Clark to continue becoming a more inclusive workplace and allowing me to share the “adult life” learning with family and friends around me. I am proud of the journey K-C has walked, and excited for the opportunities still ahead,” shared Michelle, a Kimberly Clark employee, and participant in our employer course, Becoming an Autism-Informed Organization. |
