United in our community, unwavering in our support

It can be challenging to live life as an Autistic individual, parent, or care provider given the amount of misinformation about Autism and vaccines.

Dear Hcis,

It can be challenging to live life as an Autistic individual, parent, or care provider given the amount of misinformation about Autism and vaccines.

Unfortunately, that’s where things stand right now in our world, and we need your help to face continued threats to healthcare, education, and disability services.

Well-established science is being overshadowed by conspiratorial rhetoric and falsehoods. As a result, some people continue to mislead the public and stigmatize Autistic individuals.

That’s why OUR voices, the policy advocacy work of the Autism Society of America, and YOUR generous support is so important — and why I’m asking you to please make your gift today.

Hcis, it’s not enough for us to be united in community just during Autism Acceptance Month. We must be unwavering all year long in support of one another, especially now. The Autism Society helps us do that.

What Autistic individuals require to live a full life varies, but we all share a common need for individualized and equitable healthcare and services — including support for mental health — and access to doctors, nurses, and medical professionals who can care for people who live with the unique complexities of Autism. The Autism Society helps others understand that.

As the Autism Is campaign shows, we all face different challenges and joys. We all need help in different ways. And when we embrace our uniqueness, when we’re there for each other, when we have a voice, and when others hear and listen to us, that’s when our community is truly at its best.

Thanks for all you do in support of the Autism Society and everyone in our diverse community.

Sincerely,

Sam Brandsen

Member, Autism Society of America’s Council of Autistic Advisors
