Medicaid Saves Lives. We need your help.

Congress is pushing forward a budget reconciliation package that neglects the most basic needs of people with Autism

Dear Hcis,

Congress is pushing forward a budget reconciliation package that neglects the most basic needs of people with Autism—and the consequences could be devastating.

This proposed $700 billion cut in Medicaid threatens essential services that millions of Autistic individuals and their families depend on every single day. It doesn’t reflect our priorities, and it certainly doesn’t reflect our community’s humanity.

Cuts to Medicaid. Additional red tape that delays services. Underfunded supports.

For people with Autism, these aren’t policy debates, they are lifelines being dismantled.

At our recent first-of-its-kind roundtable, Autism organizations convened advocates together to share the needs of the community—including Medicaid.

"If Medicaid cuts were to happen, my son’s life would be in danger,” said Dr. Robert Naseef, a psychologist and father to an Autistic son. “The tragedy in my life would be if my son didn’t have around-the-clock care – that he couldn’t be alive today.”

The Autism Society continues to take action on Medicaid by:

  • Advocating directly with lawmakers to ensure they understand the potential impact to the Autism community.
  • Sharing stories from Autism advocates through our Action Center on how Medicaid changes could impact them.
  • Uniting national Autism and disability leaders to demand urgent change and protection of funding and services.

But we cannot do this alone, Hcis. Will you make an urgent donation today to help us protect the rights, dignity, and safety of the Autism community?

The window to influence this legislation is closing fast. In just days, members of Congress will return home to their districts—and they’ll be listening. We must show them the full strength of our community.

Autistic individuals and families deserve better.

Help us fight for the right that every Autistic person is supported, included, and empowered to live fully.

With gratitude,

Tracey Staley
