Breakthroughs in diabetes care start with you. | | At the 85th Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association® (ADA), more than 9,000 professionals came together to gain knowledge of the latest scientific discoveries that are changing—and saving—lives. | | |
|
Thanks to generous supporters like you, the ADA is able to fund life-changing research and host the world's largest meeting dedicated to diabetes science, prevention, and care. Some of this year's highlights included: | - A study that found semaglutide, a weight-loss medication, can also reduce the risk for heart problems.
- CagriSema, a medication that helps regulate blood glucose (blood sugar) and control appetite, could improve weight loss in people with and without type 2 diabetes living with overweight or obesity.
- A study that found inhaled insulin could be a safe and effective replacement for meal-time insulin in children with type 1 diabetes.
- New weight-loss treatments are emerging for people with and without diabetes, along with new approaches for managing type 1 diabetes.
- The Standards of Care in Overweight and Obesity, the first-ever clinical guidelines for treating overweight and obesity were introduced.
