National Minority Health Month reminds us that access to trusted health information and resources makes a lasting difference.
|
Hispanic/Latino adults are over 65% more likely to have diagnosed diabetes and Black adults are over 70% more likely to have diagnosed diabetes compared to non-Hispanic white adults, and American Indians/Alaskan Native adults are more than twice as likely.
|
Location, transportation access, education level, employment status, access to care, and access to healthy food also leads to a higher risk of developing life-threatening chronic diseases, such as diabetes, certain types of cancer, and heart disease.

The ADA turns passion into action through partnerships with community outreach efforts like Dion’s Chicago Dream, a program that helps feed families, create community, and fuel hope by providing healthy food choices and addressing food insecurity.
