We're fighting to make insulin more affordable for millions of Americans. |
This Chronic Illness Awareness Month, we're focused on a critical opportunity to help people living with diabetes.
The Improving Needed Safeguards for Users of Lifesaving Insulin Now (INSULIN) Act is bipartisan legislation that would help make insulin more affordable for millions of Americans. If passed, it would limit out-of-pocket insulin costs to $35 per month for people with private or employer-sponsored insurance.
The need is urgent. A new poll by the ADA found that 39% of respondents are paying more than $150 per month for insulin. For some, those costs force dangerous decisions to ration, skip, or delay doses of a medication they need to survive.
Thanks to advocacy efforts across the country, the INSULIN Act has cleared the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions and is now one step closer to a vote by the full Senate. But we're not at the finish line yet.
The ADA is working every day to keep this lifesaving legislation moving forward while continuing to advance research, education, and advocacy that improve the lives of people living with diabetes.
Your support makes this work possible.
Together, we can help ensure that no one is forced to choose between paying for insulin, paying for housing, or putting food on the table.
