Read this in your browser September 25, 2026 HRSA Awards Nearly $90 Million to Rural Communities for Opioid ResponseToday, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) announced new funding administered by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP) to continue the work of the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP). These investments advance a variety of locally driven solutions for addressing substance use disorder based on the needs and capacity specific to each funded community. The awards span 45 States and one U.S. Territory and include 87 awards through RCORP-Impact, 42 awards through RCORP-Overdose Response, 40 awards through the re-introduced RCORP-Planning program, and one award for technical assistance support. These awards also mark the first RCORP award made to an organization in the state of Wyoming. Established in 2018 during the first Trump Administration, RCORP is a multi-year initiative aimed at reducing disease and death related to substance use disorders (SUD), including opioid use disorder (OUD), in rural America. It is the only Federal program dedicated to addressing OUD and SUD exclusively in rural communities. Awards this year build on lessons learned from funding nearly 1,000 grants over eight years of implementation.
