On Tuesday, Dr. Robert G. Webster, Emeritus Member of the Department of Infectious Diseases at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in Memphis, Tennessee, will host NIAID's 2018 Chanock lecture, "Influenza pandemics of the past century: 1918-2009." Dr. Webster has studied influenza, particularly avian influenza and how it jumps from birds into humans, for over 50 years. He will discuss the source and progression of the deadly 1918 influenza pandemic, which ultimately killed over 50 million people, as well as the paths which the influenza virus has taken since.

The lecture will begin at 9:00 AM on November 20th, in the 1st floor conference room of Building 50 on the NIH Campus in Bethesda, Maryland.
