Medicaid and CHIP Managed Care Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) Webinar

On November 8, 2018, CMS put on display at the Federal Register a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking  (NPRM) for Medicaid and CHIP managed care. This proposed rule advances CMS' efforts to streamline the Medicaid and CHIP managed care regulatory framework and reflects a broader strategy to relieve regulatory burdens; support state flexibility and local leadership; and promote transparency, flexibility, and innovation in the delivery of care. These proposed revisions of the Medicaid and CHIP managed care regulations are intended to ensure that the regulatory framework is efficient and feasible for states to implement in a cost-effective manner and ensure that states can implement and operate Medicaid and CHIP managed care programs without undue administrative burdens. This webinar will provide an overview of the regulatory revisions in the proposed rule. Public comments are due January 14, 2019.

Medicaid Innovation Accelerator Program (IAP)

DEADLINE EXTENDED: State Medicaid-Housing Agency Partnerships New Technical Support Opportunity

The CMS Medicaid Innovation Accelerator Program (IAP)'s Community-Integration in Long-Term Service and Supports (CI-LTSS) Program Area is launching a nine-month technical support opportunity for up to eight states seeking to implement housing and service changes that will increase community integration options for Medicaid beneficiaries requiring long-term services and supports. Selected states will have the opportunity to work with industry experts through their individualized technical support and state-to-state learning activities. Consistent with statute, CMS does not provide Federal Financial Participation for room and board in home and community-based services.

This technical support opportunity is open to all states, including those that have previously participated in the Medicaid IAP State Medicaid-Housing Agency Partnerships Track; are ready to implement Medicaid and housing changes; and have a plan in place that includes identified goals, strategies, partners/resources, and a timeline to guide their work. The Expression of Interest form is posted on the CMS Medicaid IAP website with the Program Overview and slides from the informational webinar. The deadline for receipt of Expression of Interest forms has been extended to midnight (ET) on Monday, November 26, 2018.

New Opportunity for States: Data Analytic Technical Support for State Medicaid Agencies

CMS's Medicaid Innovation Accelerator Program (IAP) Data Analytics functional area is launching a third round of technical support for state Medicaid agencies to assist in building their data analytic capacity as they design and implement delivery system reforms. All interested states are encouraged to attend the information session on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm ET to learn more

During this information session, states will hear about the technical support opportunity, have an opportunity to ask questions, and learn about the state selection process. Webinar participants will also learn about the types of technical support that IAP has provided to states interested in building their data analytic capacity, such as developing an analytic plan, integrating non-Medicare datasets, interpreting statistical output, or developing statistical programs to analyze and monitor their Medicaid programs.

This opportunity is open to states at all levels of expertise and experience in data analytics. Additional information, including the Program Overview, Expression of Interest form, and Informational Session slides will be posted on the IAP Data Analytic webpage the day of the information session. States interested in this opportunity should complete an Expression of Interest form and submit to IAP by January 23, 2019 Midnight ET.
