CIB: Information to States and School Systems on Addressing Mental Health and Substance Use Issues in Schools

CMS and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) issued a joint Informational Bulletin that describes Medicaid mandatory and optional state plan benefits and other Medicaid authorities that states may use to cover mental illness and substance use related treatment services delivered to eligible children in school-based settings.  The Bulletin also outlines best practices and information about resources that will facilitate implementation of quality, evidence-based, comprehensive mental illness and substance use related services for students.

The Bulletin includes tools and resources to help states, educational agencies, and providers work together to identify and adequately treat students' mental illness or substance related challenges in school-based settings.

CIB: Temporary Census Income and Medicaid and CHIP Eligibility

As we prepare for the decennial census, CMCS issued an Informational Bulletin to describe existing authorities states may use to exclude, or minimize the impact of, income from temporary Census Bureau employment ("temporary census income") on Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program eligibility for census workers and their families.

July 10, 2019: 1:30pm – 3pm EST

The objective of this training is to share strategies used by states who have remedied issues with conflict of interest, highlighting the anticipated and unexpected outcomes of this important system change. This will complement but not repeat prior webinars related to the identification of COI and will focus on the system impacts identified by states who have completed the process. With the support of a technical assistance contractor, Ralph Lollar, DLTSS Division Director, the DLTSS Team, will support the training and lead the Q&A Session.
