They also address mis-information on the disease and provide fact sheets, infographics and other consumer resources in English, Spanish and Chinese.

Call for Comments on American Indian/Alaska Native Electronic Training Modules

The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) seeks individuals to pilot two electronic training modules. One will educate Tribal leaders on public health and Tribal consultation. The second will train federal government partners on effective working practices with Tribal nations. NIHB requests input from Tribal leaders, current and former Tribal Advisory Committee members, stakeholders from Tribal organizations/Area Indian Health Boards and non-Tribal stakeholders such as Tribal liaisons or national/regional organization staff.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for African Americans with Uncontrolled Type-2 Diabetes

This behavioral study, sponsored by Emory University and the NIH National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), seeks African American volunteers, age 18 years or older, with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes to assess the feasibility and acceptability of a culturally-tailored cognitive behavior intervention. Study to be conducted at the Emory Dunwoody Clinic in Atlanta, Ga.

Project Minority AIDS Prevention: Reaching Black and Hispanic MSM About PrEP and TasP Using Social Media (MAP)

This behavioral study, sponsored by Brown University and the CDC, seeks African American or Hispanic/Latino men, ages 18 years or older, with a history of unprotected intercourse with other men, who currently have access to social media, self-identify as HIV-negative or HIV-positive at enrollment and are not on HIV treatment or care. Study to be conducted at the Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies in Providence, RI.

The book, Caring for Equality: A History of African American Health and Healthcare, examines the fight for advancing health conditions for and medical treatment of black people, beginning with the arrival of  African slaves in America. It highlights improvements that have been made due to the rise in the concept of health equality for all. It also includes a copy of a letter from the 1985 Report of the Secretary's Task Force on Black and Minority Health, also known as the Heckler Report.
