Hcis, we need your help...

Dear Hcis,

Nearly 78% of children with autism have at least one mental health condition and nearly half have two or more mental health conditions. Take a moment now to consider what the COVID-19 pandemic has done to worsen that problem. In fact, early studies show that 93% of autistic adults feel the pandemic has negatively affected their mental health. These statistics don’t even begin to touch on the additional stress that parents, caregivers, and friends are also feeling at this time.

The Autism Society of America wants you to know that you are not alone.
This May we have been committed to shining a light on the national effort to promote Mental Health Awareness Month within the autism community.

As the nation’s oldest autism organization with the largest affiliate network in the country, we are primed to make a significant impact both locally and nationally in 2021 and beyond.

Your donation means the Autism Society of America will continue to:
  • Produce more relevant content about maintaining your mental health during COVID-19 (disponible en español), updates on vaccine developments, and safely re-entering society;
  • Educate the new Congress on the importance of good legislation that is mindful of individuals on the spectrum as well as other developmental disabilities;
  • Respond and support anyone who contacts our trained Information and Referral Specialists through our National Helpline at 1-800-3AUTISM (1-800-328-8476) or at info@autism-society.org;
  • Advocate for individuals with autism and their families; and
  • Support our network of 74 affiliates and their outreach to regional and local communities across the country.

Thank you for boosting our work to create a world where individuals and families living with autism can maximize their quality of life, are treated with the highest level of dignity, and live in a society where their talents and skills are appreciated and valued.

Sincerely,
Christopher Banks
President and CEO

Our Promise During COVID-19: The Autism Society of America promises to remain committed to improving the lives of all affected by autism across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, and will focus on providing information, resources, and advocacy efforts to address these urgent needs.
