If you use complementary health approaches, it's important to discuss them with your health care providers. Sharing this information will help you stay in control and better manage your health.

 

Make sure to list the complementary health approaches you use on your patient history form. Update this information at each visit. Remember to include any dietary supplements you're taking. It may help to make a list in advance and bring it with you to your appointment.

 

It's also a good idea to talk with your providers about complementary approaches you're considering but not yet using. Your providers can help you learn about their safety, effectiveness, and possible interactions with medicines.
