If you have asthma, you may have wondered whether complementary health approaches could help you manage your condition. In some instances, the answer may be yes. When used in addition to medical care, approaches that help people manage stress, anxiety, or depression—such as yoga or meditation—may help people with asthma feel better and improve their asthma control.

It's important to remember, though, that complementary health approaches are not a substitute for proven medical management for asthma. Consult your health care provider before adding any complementary health products or practices to your asthma management program.
