New Model for Norovirus Offers Promising Path Towards Countermeasure Development

Norovirus news: NIAID scientists developed an animal model to study human norovirus infection, which could speed the development of new vaccines and therapeutics to treat the disease. Norovirus, a highly infectious virus that is a leading cause of acute gastroenteritis in the U.S., has no approved therapeutics or vaccines to prevent its miserable effects. This reliable animal model will facilitate the study of norovirus infection and help predict how effective interventions will be in people.
